Photogenesis™ Laser Facial
Anyone looking to reduce the appearance of blemishes, redness or scarring and restore a youthful glow should consider a Photogenesis™ laser facial. This non-invasive and non-ablative skin rejuvenation treatment can improve many common skin conditions with a high level of safety and effectiveness and minimal downtime and recovery. A Photogenesis™ laser facial also provides up to a year of improved skin in some patients with a procedure that takes under an hour to perform.
How does a Photogenesis™ laser facial work?
A Photogenesis™ laser facial is a non-ablative treatment that works by mildly heating the middle layers of your skin. This gentle heating stimulates the production of collagen and elastin — a part of your body’s natural healing response — which improves the underlying skin structures and rejuvenates the skin. The laser energy also targets small capillaries, diminishing redness and improving conditions such as Rosacea and Poikiloderma of Civatte. After several treatments, a Photogenesis™ laser facial can restore a youthful glow and appearance, rejuvenating treated areas. After a full course of treatment, clients can expect significantly more youthful-looking skin with improved clarity.
What does a Photogenesis™ laser facial treat?

- The hands
- The legs

A Photogenesis™ laser facial is safe to have in many areas of the body. If you have special concerns, discuss your needs with your Spa Sydell medical provider.
Photogenesis™ Laser Facial Questions
Am I a candidate for a Photogenesis™ laser facial?
Men and women who suffer from early aging symptoms (such as fine lines, wrinkles and skin laxity), skin discoloration or facial scarring may benefit from a Photogenesis™ laser facial skin treatment. However, you must have good health prior to your treatment. Contraindications for a Photogenesis™ laser facial include, for women, pregnancy, breastfeeding or lactation; however, the procedure is ideal for all skin types.
What can I expect during my Photogenesis™ laser facial treatment session?
You will experience a gentle warming of the skin’s surface during your procedure, which many patients consider relaxing. Usually, no pain relief is required, and often, patients find the treatment very comfortable. You will need to wear protective eyewear during your session if facial areas are being treated, however. A typical treatment usually lasts between 30 and 60 minutes. The size of your treatment area generally determines the length of your treatment session.
What can I expect during recovery from my Photogenesis™ laser facial?
You will have minimal downtime after a Photogenesis™ laser facial treatment. Redness, swelling and tenderness may persist for two to four days but will quickly subside. Bruising is also a common but temporary side effect, and clients can treat any discomfort with over-the-counter painkillers as needed. Pigmented lesions will darken and flake off five to 10 days after treatment, which is an expected result of treatment. Direct sun exposure should be avoided for two to four weeks and sunscreen worn on a daily basis. Blisters and burns are possible but extremely rare.
When will I see results from my Photogenesis™ laser facial?
Best results usually appear two to six weeks after your treatment. During this time your body’s collagen and elastin production will increase, and newly rejuvenated cells will slowly reach the skin’s surface. While individual results vary, improvements will continue to become visible in the weeks that follow your procedure.
How long will my Photogenesis™ laser facial last?
Most patients enjoy results which last between six and eight months. After eight months, follow-up treatments will be necessary to maintain your results. You may need multiple treatment sessions to achieve your cosmetic goals; this largely depends on your initial skin condition. Your Spa Sydell medical provider will usually recommend five to ten treatments to start, spaced two to four weeks apart.
