Laser Hair Removal
Unwanted hair can be both inconvenient and embarrassing, but shaving, plucking and waxing can be time-consuming, painful and expensive. These methods can also lead to irritated skin. There is an effective solution, however. Laser hair removal can eliminate these unwanted hairs, providing results that are very long-lasting and, in some cases, semi-permanent. Also, this treatment has no downtime or recovery so you can get back to enjoying life with little worry or hassle. Now you can have laser hair removal at Spa Sydell, along with many other luxurious spa and cosmetic treatments.
What is laser hair removal?
A laser hair removal treatment delivers low-level laser energy to the hairs you no longer want. The pigment in these hairs will absorb the laser energy, which kills them while leaving the surrounding skin safe. The once growing hairs will slowly fall out over time. Patients typically will require a minimum of six treatments over six to twelve months to obtain their full results. However, once patients get their results, they are semi-permanent.
What benefits does a laser hair removal treatment offer?
Laser hair removal stops hair growth wherever you have the treatment, and your results can be semi-permanent with regular maintenance treatments. The treatment kills hairs which then slowly shed, and it also slows down future hair growth in the area. There are many benefits of laser hair. Laser hair removal
- Is non-invasive
- Targets only unwanted hairs
- Can treat large areas quickly
- Gives patient consistent and reliable results.
What areas can laser hair removal treat?
A laser hair removal treatment can eliminate unwanted hairs from all parts of the body. Common treatment areas include
Laser hair removal treatments are safe for sensitive skin, the chest, areolae and bikini areas. You will need to have a minimum of six sessions to get the results you want. The number of sessions you need will depend on your hair’s thickness and other factors. Your medical provider will recommend the ideal course of treatment after your consultation and a discussion of your goals.
Do I qualify for laser hair removal?
Laser treatments often cannot treat blonde, white, red or gray hairs effectively because they lack enough pigmentation to absorb the applied laser energy. As a result, individuals with darker hairs tend to make better candidates for this procedure. If you do not qualify for a laser hair removal treatment, your Spa Sydell medical provider will recommend alternatives to improve your concerns.
Laser Hair Removal Questions
What can I expect during my laser hair removal procedure?
You will need to avoid excessive sun exposure for a few weeks before and after your laser hair removal treatment, and you will need to shave the treatment area before your visit. However, hairs you wish to be treated should not be pulled out prior to receiving treatment. Laser hair removal treats the hairs, not empty follicles. Your treatment, once underway, will feel like repeated snapping sensations on the skin. These sensations are mild, and most patients do not require any pain relief. Afterward, your treatment will conclude with ice or cold water to soothe the treated area. Your skin may look and feel sunburnt after laser hair removal, and you may use cold compresses to increase your comfort. Sunscreen is also a must to protect the treated skin. If you wear makeup, you may do so safely to mask these natural and temporary side effects.
Does laser hair removal have any recovery?
While you will have mild symptoms similar to a sunburn immediately after your laser hair removal treatment, most patients find that these symptoms do not interfere with their normal routine. These natural and temporary side effects will naturally resolve in a few days. Your medical provider will recommend that you wear sunscreen for the next few weeks to continue to protect your skin.
When will I see my laser hair removal results?
Post-treatment temporary redness, tenderness and swelling usually subside within a few hours. Over the next week, treated hairs will begin to push themselves out of your hair follicles. While shaving is permitted between treatments, you will not have to wax or pluck these treated areas. It will take a minimum of six treatments and six months to a year to achieve optimum results. Once optimal results are obtained, we recommend having regular maintenance treatments to prevent new hair growth.
How long will my results last?
Individual results vary. However, most patients can enjoy semi-permanent results in treated areas with regularly scheduled maintenance treatments. Your medical provider will recommend the best schedule for you based on your hair type and goals so you can continue to enjoy your look.
